Job Description: Public Relations Chair – BQPA/Pioneers

 

This position assembles in one place the responsibilities for promoting upcoming BQPA/Pioneers festivals and encouraging barbershoppers to join our membership.

 

The primary responsibility of this position is communicating – in a timely manner – the schedules and details of our upcoming festivals to members and barbershoppers of all genders, persuasions and affiliations.  We’d like to tell everyone in BHS (formerly known as SPEBSQSA), Harmony, Inc., and Sweet Adelines where and when our next gatherings will be, and how they can make arrangements to be with us.

 

Tasks include:

 

 

The incumbent is also responsible for arranging for the design, production and distribution of materials such as:

 

 

The chairperson does not necessarily need to be the designer, producer or distributor of any of these materials, but – if not – must arrange with others to design, produce and distribute these things in a timely fashion.  In the latter case, s/he needs to assemble a stable of artists, authors, editors, etc. who will to do the work that has been brainstormed and decided upon…

 

For timely inclusion in publications, press releases must go to BHS, SAI & HI international organizations at least four months prior to our next festival date.

 

For timely inclusion in publications, press releases must go to BHS District publications, SAI Regional publications and Harmony, Inc. Area publications at least two months prior to our next festival date.

 

For timely inclusion in chapter publications and for presentation to chapter members, press releases and/or flyers must go to local chapters of the barbershop organizations at least a month before our gatherings.

 

Chair should post – or arrange to be posted by someone else - reminders of our festivals on

 

Chair should consider organizing regular and/or special occurrence postings on various social media: Facebook, Twitter, etc.  Don’t leave out our Google Group, or other social media groups like “Barbershop Harmony Society”, “Barbershop Enthusiasts”, etc.
